Range Rover Electric in UAE Testing

Prototypes of the upcoming Range Rover Electric have been spotted undergoing intense testing in the UAE, where the scorching desert temperatures and fine sand dunes provide a serious challenge for any vehicle — let alone an electric SUV. With temperatures above 50°C and humidity nearing 90%, this phase is said to be the most demanding test Range Rover has ever conducted.

Pushing Boundaries in Extreme Heat

According to Land Rover, the trials focus on how the SUV handles the dual demands of cooling its cabin and maintaining battery performance in searing conditions. They claim the vehicle’s new thermal management system performed effectively, even during gruelling uphill drives on fine sand.

One notable highlight is its ability to conquer the towering 300ft “Big Red” dune in Sharjah, a test that all Range Rovers must pass. The electric prototype reportedly completed this challenge five times without showing any drop in performance — a feat that, if verified, would speak to its engineering capabilities.

The Road Ahead

The Range Rover Electric is scheduled for release in 2025, marking a significant milestone for the brand as it enters the electric era. For now, the testing continues, with Land Rover stating that its all-electric luxury SUV is on track to deliver the same level of comfort, capability, and durability expected of the Range Rover name.

While these tests show promise, the true measure of the Range Rover Electric’s performance will come when it’s in the hands of customers and reviewers alike.
