Peugeot 5008 review
New Release – The 2017 Peugeot 5008
If you have a big family, or need a lot of space in your car; there are a few different choices you can make, such as Citroen Grand C4 Picasso, Vauxhall Zafira Tourer, and Ford S-MAX. However, this year, Peugeot have decided to come up with an alternative that adds a little bit of style in comparison to its predecessor, the Peugeot 5008.
What’s on offer?
The 5008 is a mid-sized MPV that has seven seats and a large boot. Exactly (on the face of it) what you need if you need lots of space and/or have a large family to cater for.
The new generation is actually a little bit smaller than the predecessor, however this is achieved with a smart use of space and a little more of a focus on the design and the detail, given that the true functionality of the car is already taken care of.
The 5008 shares the engines with the Peugeot 308 model range, including a PureTech 1.2L three cylinder petrol engine, which is designed to provide a little bit more performance at a smaller cost to the wallet. However, if you’d like a little more natural power for your money under the bonnet, there is a 148bhp 2.0L engine available to add in.
The car is competitively priced for the market and is decently affordable to run, so it’s much nicer on your wallet in comparison to the competition. The 1.6L diesel averages over 50 mpg, and tops 55mpg if you choose to go for the e-HDi engine, which has a semi automatic gearbox.
The Peugeot 5008 has put safety first
If you are in either of the front seats, you’ll be well protected by front and side airbags, as well as the curtain airbags that cover the rest of the cabin. Stability is fitted as standard, considering the size of the vehicle, so you may feel a little safer going round the sharp bends at speed.
Room for everyone
As mentioned, the 5008 has seven seats, split between three rows, with two seats at the far back. However these two seats are probably more suited to children or teenagers, as full sized adults probably won’t feel as much comfort compared with the front and middle seats. The middle row of seats also slides and reclines. As for the boot space, this can be greatly improved upon by folding down all of the rear 5 seats, which gives a completely flat loading space – perfect for those who need to transport bulk items occasionally.
Add ons aplenty in the Peugeot 5008
There are a whole host of additional features to be added to the car depending upon what choice of trim you go for. The basic model, Access, comes with such handy benefits as air conditioning and front electric windows; the next trim up, SR, adds in the sat nav system, whilst the Active trim replaces wind up windows in the rear with electric counterparts and adds rear parking sensors and cruise control. The top spec (Allure) adds even more with a panoramic sunroof.
The new Peugeot 5008 is certainly a car to look at if you need room for more than the standard 4 passengers but don’t want to compromise on comfort.
