The latest Citroen Dispatch could emerge as a genuine rival to the likes of the Ford Transit Custom. The Dispatch is available in various specifications and a choice of two wheelbases and three different body lengths, all with the same roof height. Sharing the same platform as the Citroen C4 Picasso and the Peugeot 308, it drives more like a car than many in its class. What’s more, the very latest in Citroen’s driver-assist, and safety technology is available with the Dispatch. Euro 6 emissions compliant
All Citroen Dispatch engines are compliant for Euro 6 emissions. Two BlueHDi diesels are available. The 1.6 model comes in 95 and 115 versions, and the 2.0 litre comes in 120, 150 and 180 formats. A range of five-speed manual, six-speed manual and six-speed ETG6 auto versions are on offer. Load capacity for the 1.6 versions are 1,000kg. For the 2.0 litre models, the capacity rises to 1,400kg.
Citroen Dispatch has the technology
The range of technology on offer really does set it apart from most of its van rivals. A 7″ dashboard touchscreen – akin to the one found on the Citroen C4 Picasso – is available. The Dispatch is also compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
In terms of specification options, even the entry-level versions are impressive and include Bluetooth, DAB radio, cruise control and electric cab windows. Mid-range models add the 7″ touchscreen infotainment system and air conditioning. However, sat nav comes as an optional extra.
The entire range of Citroen Dispatch vans stands up pretty well when it comes to MPG, with an overall average of 52.3mpg. The most efficient model in the range is the 1.6 114, with returns of 55.3mpg and CO2 emissions of only 133g/km.
The Citroen Dispatch is perfectly agile
With impressive load weights all across the range, it is perhaps the smallest model – the XS – that demands the most attention. Able to hold two pallets but with an overall length of 4.6m, it has a turning circle close to just 11 metres. For those that need an agile and compact van, the XS is the perfect Dispatch.
The middle seat of the Dispatch can be used as a passenger seat but it can also be folded into a handy laptop table. The cabin, however, is fairly narrow and with three passengers the cabin will seem a bit tight, compared to similar spec vans.
The Dispatch certainly leads in terms of comfort in the van sector. It’s always been a strength of the brand’s cars and this has been transferred to its van range here. Not only do all Dispatch models offer a comfortable ride, the noise in the cabin is low too. So it will get you and your load from A to B with no fuss.
